Conservation & restoration of historic buildings in Sussex

We specialise in work to historic buildings up to a contract value of £600k at all locations in East Sussex and West Sussex. We ensure any work done to your listed building meets your requirements whilst respecting historic value. Local building traditions across Sussex are diverse and may include mathematical tiling or Bungaroosh - such materials need careful consideration at design stage and creative problem solving is essential on site. All alterations, extensions and other work within the curtilage of listed buildings require listed building consent. We are experienced at liaison with the relevant authorities including Historic England, the Director of Ancient Monuments and local authority conservation officers. Historical research may be necessary using a variety of sources which then informs design work and feeds into the Heritage Statement. We manage the construction process and work with capable builders and a range of specialist contractors. We are able to specify the right repairs and new work using traditional materials like lime, flint, lead and stone. In extending listed buildings, sometimes a contemporary design aesthetic is appropriate in order to draw a clear line between the old and the new. Following an extensive consultation with a local authority our careful restoration of outbuildings at Fulbourn Manor was granted a local authority conservation award.
