Conservation of Historic Buildings in Sussex

We specialise in work to historic buildings  at all locations in East Sussex and West Sussex.  Local building traditions across Sussex can throw up surprises like Mathematical tiling or Bungaroosh - these materials need patience and understanding. That's our job at design stage. It also comes into play later when something unexpected happens on site and the builder needs to know what to do. We manage the construction process and work with capable builders. . We are able to specify the right repairs and new work using traditional materials like lime, flint, lead and stone. We also deal with a range of specialists contractors and suppliers for everything from lime Plastering to internet hard wiring or ductwork fabrication. When we extend listed buildings, sometimes a contemporary design approach works best so that a clear line is drawn between the old and the new.

Listed Buildings in Sussex

If you have read this far you will know all changes "within the curtilage" or "affecting the setting" of listed buildings need listed building consent. We deal with all the people involved, including Historic England, the Director of Ancient Monuments and conservation officers. Usually we do some historical research, which then feeds into design work and the Heritage Statement. After consultation with a local authority our careful restoration of outbuildings at Fulbourn Manor was granted a local authority conservation award.
